“Connecting To The Future” by Jason Brammer | Mixed-Media Painting & Mural Installation.
Jason was commissioned by the social networking company, LinkedIn, to create this vibrant, eye-catching installation for a conference room inside their Chicago office.
Location: LinkedIn Office, downtown Chicago, IL.
Date: Completed February 2011
Medium: Acrylic, plaster, wood, antique hardware, salvaged molding and copper wire.
Details: Jason created this installation to look like a portal connecting two worlds with swirling spheres flowing from a distant source on the horizon into the real world. The "window" in this installation is a 4' x 6' canvas that he painted in his studio and then installed in the meeting room, completing the network of spheres on-site. Some of the spheres are real wood and some are painted; likewise, some of the connectors between the spheres are real copper wire, while others are painted. Jason painted the window on the canvas to be reminiscent of the Chicago “El” tracks and built a frame for the canvas out of salvaged molding and new wood with some antique handles incorporated. The wall in this room started out as just a blank white wall, and he treated the wall and the “window” to achieve the look of weathered, rusting metal.
