“Eye of The Future” Installation for Eyeporium Gallery (February 2009)
Jason built a site-specific, permanent installation titled “Eye of the Future” for Eyeporium Gallery in Chicago. The installation is a double-sided giant eyeball with tentacles, which he carved out of sign board and painted. The piece was debuted at the opening reception for his solo exhibition at Eyeporium Gallery on February 20th. (The exhibition, also titled “Eye of the Future”, was named for this installation.)
The photos below show a step-by-step series of how Jason created the piece in his studio, and then the finished installation. (Note in the studio photos you can see that Jason uses his studio wall as a practice space for his ideas). The finished installation can be seen in person at Eyeporium Gallery (inside EyeWant at 1543 N. Milwaukee Ave) in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
