Eye Of The Future” by Jason Brammer | Site-Specific, Permanent Installation

To create this giant eyeball with tentacles, Jason carved the shapes by hand out of sign board and then painted the imagery. The piece is double-sided so the artwork can be seen from all angles.

Location: Eyeporium Gallery at 1431 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL (Wicker Park).

Date Created: February 2009

Details: The piece was debuted at the opening reception for Jason’s solo exhibition at Eyeporium Gallery on February 20, 2009. (The exhibition, also titled “Eye of the Future”, was named for this installation.) Note the photos below show the installation in Eyeporium’s old location. The photos below show a step-by-step series of how Jason created the piece in his studio, and then the finished installation. (Note in the studio photos you can see that Jason uses his studio wall as a practice space for his ideas).
