“The Time Traveler’s Laboratory: 1901” Installation at The Artist Project
(December 4 -7, 2008)
Jason exhibited several brand new original paintings as part of an installation for “The Artist Project” show at The Merchandise Mart (December 4 - 7, 2008). The installation is titled “The Time Traveler’s Laboratory: 1901” and below you can see photos of it. For this installation, Jason first painted a 30 foot white wall to look like a rusted, aging metal backdrop, airbrushing in all the rust stains. Original paintings, which included brand new pieces from his “Time Machine” series and new works on paper, were hung on the wall. The gold tubes connecting the pieces were actually wooden strips that Jason painted to look three-dimensional. He also placed antique hardware and tools throughout the installation to create a sense of a working laboratory that had been abandoned. Click on the images below to enlarge.
